Sea you at the wedding
There is a reason why beaches are a wedding hot spot. The photos are always beautiful, and the vast ocean behind newlyweds easily symbolises eternal love. Can we say romantic!? If you’re thinking of ditching the church in favour of the bay, here are some ideas to make planning your beach wedding easy breezy.
Preparation is key
Send your guests the location of your wedding well in advance. Have welcome bags prepared that include sun lotion, water, towels and fans. All sun-blocked, cool and dry – your guests can relax and enjoy the wonderful location.
Less is more
Lace and sand do not mix. Ditch traditional fabrics for whimsical chiffons and charmeuses that will float beautifully in the wind. Veils also need a rethink. I recommend accessorising your hair with something small and elegant, we have gobsmacking gorgeous head pieces in the showroom right now - something that will stay fixed if the ocean sends a congratulatory gust of wind your way.
Encourage groomsmen to think “light” with fabrics and colours. Tailored shorts paired with a loose fitting long sleeved top are a fail-safe combo to make the men look and feel great. To really channel their inner beach babes, the guys could also roll up their sleeves. They’ll look great on the day, with the added bonus of a lovely shirt they can wear again.
Step it out
Leave stilettos out of the equation. Instead, go for ivory or gold leather flats which we have in the showroom from bridal shoe royalty, Badgley Mischka. If you’d rather go barefoot, have flat shoes on hand – sand absorbs heat like it’s nobody’s business! Alternatively, you can choose one of our custom-made anklets which provide bridal glam while still allowing you to feel the sand between your toes.
It takes a little extra thought to work with nature, but getting married in such a picturesque, romantic location is well worth the effort.
